We have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.
Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/ physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the School Sport Unit website for details.
School Swimming and Water Safety Program
Throughout the year, students from Stage 2 and 3 are given the opportunity to participate in Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) Sporting activities.
PSSA runs for 5 weeks during the Term and is on a Friday morning between 9-11am. Schools from around the District are also given the opportunity to participate in what are friendly matches against peer groups. A majority of the schools are involved throughout the year.
The sports on offer throughout the year vary and include, but are not limited to, AFL AusKick, Netball, Mixed Netball, Soccer, Dragon Tag, Rugby League and Contact Rugby. It is a great opportunity for students to try a new sport, consolidate their skills in a sport they participate in already and share social time with students from other schools and backgrounds.
From time to time, a Gala Day will also be organised to showcase the skills and game sense the students have learned throughout the program.
Sport is an important vehicle in providing a pleasant multicultural learning environment for our students.
