Thank you to all our parents, carers and friends who attended our Open Day on Wednesday. We had a wonderful roll-up with numerous visitors in every classroom across the school. New uniform policy for NSW public schools

A new uniform policy has been introduced for NSW public schools, which for the first time include the option for girls to wear shorts and pants. The Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, and the Minister for Education, Rob Stokes, announced the new "clear and concise" policy today at Condell Park Public School in Sydney. The 16 teams selected to compete in the inaugural Game Changer Challenge in Education Week have been announced. Superfast scooters to transport students between classes, time travel excursions to key moments in history, sustainable schools that are self-sufficient in power, water and food and real-time brain scans to track student learning and wellbeing. Biennale Excursion

On Thursday the 31st of May, 6OC and 5OC, attended the Art Gallery of NSW and the Royal Botanical Gardens for the Biennale exhibition. It was heaps of fun and we got to ride a train to Central, then we walked to the Art Gallery. We had a look around the Australian Art area and the young Archibalds, which were fantastic considering the age of the young artists, some looked photographic! Premier's Debating Challenge

On Wednesday the 23rd of May, Wollongong Public School were represented by 8 debating students. Our two teams, the Radical Rebutters and Daring Debaters went to Towradgi Public school for the first round of the Premier's Debating Challenge. Both teams were successful in winning their debates with the topics: Arts and Music classes should be replaced with more Maths and Science and; We should ban all tests in primary school. Walk Safely To School Day

Today is Walk Safely to School Day, and this morning Ms Yacoub, our Community Hub Leader, and a large team of helpers provided breakfast for students and parents who walked with their children to school to raise awareness of road safety. The morning was a great success, not just because so many families took part in the walk, but also took the opportunity to chat with other community members while they ate. Regional da Vinci Decathlon 2018

On the 9th of May, we went to Illawarra Christian School to participate in the Regional Da Vinci Decathlon. A decathlon is an event with ten different activities. The ten activities would normally be sports, but we were competing in an academic decathlon. The topics we did were: English, Maths, Science, Cartography, Ideation, Art & Poetry, Engineering, Creative Producers, Codebreaking, and General Knowledge. On May 4th, Central Wollongong held its District Cross Country at Kembla Grange, Dapto. It was an incredibly fun day, although it was quite windy.
